The Oklahoma football win over 19th-ranked Kansas on Saturday knocked the Jayhawks out of the national rankings in both major polls.

All four of the Sooners Big 12 opponents so far this season have been ranked at some point of the season, but only one, Kansas, was ranked at the time Oklahoma played them. OU lost consecutive games to Kansas State, TCU and Texas. All were unranked when they played the Sooners, and all three broke into the top-25 national rankings after beating Oklahoma.

This week the Sooners can take credit for knocking a team out of the top 25 instead of helping everybody into the national spotlight.

Kansas, the darlings of the college football universe the past several weeks after a 5-1 start to the season, fell out of the rankings this week after suffering a 52-42 loss to Oklahoma.

Four Big 12 schools remain in the top-25 rankings this week, led by TCU, which replaced Oklahoma State at No. 8 in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls after handing that other Oklahoma school its first loss of the season in two overtimes.

Oklahoma State dropped down to 11th in both weekly polls. Kansas State, which was idle this weekend, is 17th in both polls, and Texas survived a big scare at home against Iowa State on Saturday after throttling the Sooners the week before. Despite a come-from-behind, three-point win on Saturday, the Longhorns moved up a couple spots, to No. 20 in the AP poll and 21 in the Coaches Poll.

Four previous top-10 teams — Alabama, USC, Oklahoma State and Penn State — lost over the weekend, and Tennessee moved into the top five with its last second win over Alabama.

Georgia and Ohio State remain Nos. 1 and 2 in both major polls. To view the complete Week 8 rankings, click here.
