Oklahoma Football: OU-Texas score predictions/game breakdown
By Connor Pasby
It’s the first time since 1998 that both the Oklahoma football team and Texas come into the Red River rivalry unranked.
The Sooners are coming off a 55-24 loss to TCU last Saturday, and it has brought question marks to this season. Texas is coming off a 38-20 win over West Virginia. It’s an interesting quarterback situation for both teams: Dillon Gabriel has been a question mark all week, and Quinn Ewers is expected to be the starter for Texas pn Saturday.
Here’s the score predictions/game breakdown from the StormininNorman crew:

Score: OU 28 – Texas 38
It’s been a disaster defensively for Oklahoma the past two weeks, completely different than what we saw in the first three games. I think the Sooners will be much better defensively, and fix the busted plays we saw against TCU, but the offense worries me. The status for Dillon Gabriel is still up in the air, so we’ll see if it’s Beville, Booty, or even Evers. If it’s Beville, the Sooners will have to establish a running game, whether that’s a big day for Gray, or another impressive game from Barnes.
FORCE A TURNOVER. In both losses to Kansas State and TCU, the Sooners did not force a turnover. They will have to force a turnover or two against Texas. It will be a battle in the Cotton Bowl, as always, I just think Texas gets the edge over Oklahoma this year.

Score: OU 45 – Texas 41
OU is looking at what they were in 2016 and 2020. Slow start, disappointing but a chance to catapult their season with an emotional win over their rivals. OU might be without Dillon Gabriel, Texas will have Ewers ready to go. The winner will be squarely in the Big 12 race, the loser will have a lot of questions to answer.

Score: OU 17 – Texas 38
There is a lot going on in the Oklahoma football program five games into the 2022 season, and most of it ends in a big, fat question mark. The Sooners don’t know who the quarterback will be for this year’s Red River rivalry game — although most of us have a pretty good idea it won’t be Dillon Gabriel. That’s just for starters. Several key players are battling injuries. This game reminds me a lot of 2005. Texas is not as good as that Longhorn squad that featured Vince Young and Jamaal Charles, but the Sooners appear to lack the weapons and the wherewithal to compete for four quarters with this Texas team that should have beaten No. 1 Alabama.

Score: OU 15 – Texas 12
Sooners have entered the Red River game off a loss four times in the 2000s (2007, 2014, 2017, 2020). In all four instances, Oklahoma beat Texas.

Score: OU 52 – Texas 49
I think it’ll be a shootout between both offenses with Quinn Ewers returning for Texas and I believe it will come down to whoever has the ball last to score.
