Former Oklahoma football star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had himself one of the more interesting games on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants. Lamb has been getting some heat lately for some of his drops, and some have even called him a “failure” as a number one wideout in the league.

Yes, it is only week three, and yes, it is a hot-take season. But to be transparent, CeeDee was giving pause for some based on some of his issues in performances through the first couple of weeks; then, this devastating drop only fueled the haters.

While not a perfect toss, it was pretty much an easy and routine grab for a player of Lamb’s caliber and certainly a catch that CeeDee should have made. Lamb did the cardinal sin of trying to catch it with his body rather than elevating and lifting his hands. The result wasn’t pretty, and boy NFL Twitter let him HAVE IT. It was understandable for fans to be frustrated, from fantasy owners to Dallas Cowboys fans and others who want to see good ball. Some, however, took it a few notches too far!

Still, there was an entire half of football to be played, and CeeDee came up big, erasing his transgression from earlier in the day. Lamb wound up with 8 catches for 87 yards and a game-sealing touchdown. He came up with several clutch grabs for the Cowboys on the game-ending drive for Dallas. So much so Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame WR Michael Irvin weighed in, calling it the “CeeDee drive.” Ending with a one-handed touchdown grab on first and goal!
