The top Oklahoma football recruit in what is now a top-10 2023 recruiting class nationally is showing why he is a prized recruit in his final high school season.

The recruiting stock for five-star quarterback prospect Jackson Arnold has been on the rise ever since he verbally committed to Brent Venables and the Sooners in January of this year.

Arnold ranks high in a quarterback class that also includes the likes of fellow five-star prospects like Arch Manning, who has committed to Texas, and Malachi Nelson, an original Oklahoma commit who shifted his allegiance to USC when Lincoln Riley left OU to take that job.

247Sports ranks Arnold as the No, 5 quarterback in the class and the No. 15 player overall nationally. In June, he won the Elite 11 MVP award in a competition camp for high school QBs to receive high-level instruction at their position.

Arnold led Denton Guyer High School in Texas to the Texas state championship last fall, and he has his team off to a 3-0 start this season. In those three games, he has completed 65 percent of his passes for 832 yards and 10 touchdowns. And that is just part of his total offensive production. He has also carried the rock for 133 yards and is averaging over eight yards per attempt.

On a per-game basis, the OU quarterback of the future is averaging over 300 combined passing and rushing yards and four touchdowns three games into his final high school season.

Arnold is part of Oklahoma’s 22-member 2023 recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 5 nationally. He was the first player to commit to the Sooners after Venables was named head coach last December.
