After last season, the Oklahoma football program had just two running backs returning for the 2022 season. The Sooners added to highly rated freshman recruits and further reinforced the RB room with a couple of transfers.

Today, several sources are reporting that former University of Washington running back Emeka Megwa has enrolled at Oklahoma. The former four-star athlete was a member of the Washington 2021 recruiting class. He redshirted last season and did not play.

Before signing with the Huskies out of Keller, Texas, Megwa had scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Georgia. That tells you something about what kind of a prospect he was coming out of high school. Now it appears he has decided to take his talents to Norman, Oklahoma.

A strong, physical runner, Megwa stands 6-foot and weighs 215 pounds. He played both linebacker and running back in high school, although Washington recruited him as an athlete and had planned to use him at the running-back position.

His senior high school season, Megwa rushed for 730 yards and 12 touchdowns on 133 carries. 247Sports rated him as the No. 19 athlete in the 2021 class. 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said Megwa has a high ceiling at both running back and linebacker.

Megwa may not see much of the field early on in the season, but we could see him at some point as the season progresses.

Eric Gray and Marcus Major are the two returning running backs from a year ago, The Sooner brought in freshmen Jovantae Barnes and Gavin Sawchuk as part of their 2022 recruiting class, and they also have added transfers Tawee Walker and Bentavious Thompson.
