Continuing our series ranking the top seven Oklahoma football players at seven different positions during the period considered the modern era of college football (1946 to present), today we feature the all-important quarterback position.

Why just the top-seven? The number seven has significant meaning in Sooner football history. It is representative of the school’s seven national championships in football and also the seven Oklahoma Heisman Trophy winners. It was also the jersey number worn by some pretty special Sooner players in the past 20-plus seasons, including RB DeMarco Murray, QB Rhett Bomar, DB Brandon Everage, DE Ronnie Perkins and DB Jordan Thomas.

With that said…on with the show.

Oklahoma is considered QBU. From the athletic freaks of the Wishbone days to the gunslingers of the Air Raid. Oklahoma has been the symbol of how to find winners, and how to play quarterback in multiple offensive designs over the history of the sport.

Shoot, the Sooners have scored more points than any other program. Certainly, the most important position in the sport has played a role in that feat.

These are the irrefutable, undeniable top-seven QBs in the modern history of OU football. If you argue with me, you are wrong! Don’t be wrong, just clap. Just kidding. We are going to get real controversial here. This may be the most difficult list I have ever made.
