Nevada transfer Grant Sherfield has committed to the Oklahoma basketball Sooners and Porter Moser.

In his third collegiate season at Nevada, Sherfield averaged 19.1 points and 6.4 assists per game, while shooting 43.5 percent from the field. The talented, shot-creating guard elected to withdraw from the 2022 NBA Draft, and has now committed to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Sooners’ newest basketball recruit:

Sherfield was a member of the class of 2019 and a three-star prospect out of high school. He attended Sunrise Christian in Wichita, Kansas, the high school of former Sooner star Buddy Hield, and was the No. 7 prospect in the state of Kansas in 2019 and No. 164 overall.

The Sunrise standout committed to Wichita State out of high school and played 30 games for the Shockers as a freshman. After his freshman season, Sherfield hit the transfer portal and landed with Nevada, where he spent his last two seasons.

There is some uncertainty, however, associated with Sherfield’s recruitment. Because he has already transferred once at the collegiate level, he may have to sit out the 2022-23 season unless he is able to obtain an NCAA eligibility waiver.

During his time at Nevada, Sherfield became a shot-making machine. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 190-pound guard has hit a plentiful amount of contested shots during his college career, and that may be exactly what the Sooners need.

A 247 sports scouting reporter had this to say about Grant Sherfield:

"“Thick, strong frame at this stage. Can play on and off ball but is most comfortable as a scorer. Range to three as shooter, has floater and uses strength to finish with contact.”"

Sherfield may be undersized as a guard, but he makes up for it with his shot-making ability. Last season, Sherfield had 13 20-point performances, which goes to show how consistent of a scorer he is. With the departures of Umoja GibsonElijah Harkless, and Jordan Goldwire, the Sooners needed to bring in some scoring, and this will help in a major way.

Head coach Porter Moser has been attacking the transfer portal. The Sooners  have commitments from George Washington transfer Joe Bamisile, and now Nevada transfer Grant Sherfield. They are both athletic guards, who will make a big impact for Oklahoma.
