Following the Oklahoma football coaching transition, the Sooners lost tight end Austin Stogner to the transfer portal and four-star, in-state 2023 prospect Luke Hasz decommitted from OU in favor of Arkansas.

That void may soon be filled by a former Clemson commitment.

The Sooners have added 6-foot, 2-inch Daniel Parker, a transfer from Missouri, as a stopgap measure at tight end for the 2022 season, but that is only a temporary fix as Parker comes in as a fifth-year senior.

Oklahoma reportedly is very interested in former Clemson commit Reid Mikeska, a three-star tight-end prospect, according to 247Sports (Rivals rates him as a four-star recruit) out of Cypress, Texas.

Mikeska committed to Clemson a month ago, but decommitted last week, reportedly after receiving a scholarship offer from Oklahoma and tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley. John Williams, who writes about OU sports for USA Today, reports that Anna Hickey, who covers Clemson recruiting for 247Sports, says Mikeska is expected to make a visit to Norman this weekend to meet with Brent Venables and the Sooner coaching staff.

Earlier this year, Jaran Kanak, a four-star linebacker prospect, decommitted from Clemson and signed with the Sooners as part of OU’s top-10 2022 recruiting class.

It would not be surprising to hear about the addition of Mikeska to the Oklahoma 2023 class following his visit this weekend. The Sooners currently have five 2023 commitments, headed by four-star QB prospect Jackson Arnold and four-star wide receiver Ashton Cozart. Both are from the state of Texas. Mikeska would be the third from the Lone Star State.
