The combination of a comfortable win over TCU and a loss by No. 2 Iowa enabled the 7-0 Oklahoma football Sooners to move up another spot in the national rankings.

The Sooners are at No. 3 this week in the Associated Press Top 25 and are No. 2 in the Coaches Poll.

Georgia is the No. 1 team in both polls for a second straight week, and received every first-place vote in both. Cincinnati is No. 2 in the AP poll and is No. 3 behind OU in the Coaches Poll.

Oklahoma is not valued as high, however, by the ESPN Top 25 computer model. The Sooners are ranked No. 4 in that model behind No. 1 Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State.

The Sooners are back where they started seven weeks ago, at the beginning of the 2021 college football season, except in reverse order. Oklahoma was ranked No. 2 in the preseason AP media poll, and was No. 3  to start the season by a vote of the coaches.

Oklahoma State, a 32-24 come-from-behind winner over Texas, continues to climb upward in the national rankings. The 6-0 Cowboys are up four spots this week in the AP poll, moving into the No. 8 spot and are No. 9 in the Coaches Poll.

Baylor is the only other Big 12 team in either poll this week. The Bears (6-1), who defeated No. 19 BYU on Saturday, moved back into the rankings after a loss at Oklahoma State a couple of weeks ago. Baylor is No. 20 this week in both polls.

Texas, the No. 25 team last week in the AP poll, fell out of the rankings with a second straight loss, the latest at home on Saturday to Oklahoma State.

Iowa State received votes in both national polls, and is currently No. 26, just outside of the rankings in the AP Top 25.
