As expected, Oklahoma football recruiting on Friday added another five-star commitment to its No. 1-ranked 2023 class.

DeAndre Moore Jr., an elite wide receiver from the same school as previous 2023 OU commits Malachi Nelson, the No. 2 QB in the class, and athlete/WR Makai Lemon, committed to the Sooners on Friday. He chose Oklahoma over Alabama, USC, Oregon and Florida State.

ESPN rates Moore as the No. 11 player overall and the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2023 class. He is the seventh commitment for Lincoln Riley in the Sooners 2023 class and the fourth five-star prospect among the seven Sooner commitments so far.

Moore chose to go with his two Los Alamitos, California, teammates and play his college ball at Oklahoma over Alabama, Florida State, USC and Oregon. He was one of the two dozen or so recruits who attended the OU ChampU BBQ event in late June.

The 5-foot, 11-inch, 190-pound wide receiver acknowledged that his high school teammates were a huge influence in his committing to Oklahoma.

"“(They recruited me) every single day,” he told Ryan Chapman of Sports Illustrated.“Malachi (Nelson) is continually throwing the ‘horns down.’ They’re just constantly trying to get me to go to that school, and I loved it. That definitely played a factor in this.”"

Moore announced his commitment on CBS Sports HQ.

The top wide receiver prospect plays two-ways at Los Alamitos High School. He is a defensive back as well as a wide receiver, but the Sooners are recruiting him as a wide receiver.

Moore joins fellow five-star recruits Nelson, Lemon and WR Brandon Inniss from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, four-star RB Treyaun Webb, four-star TE Luke Hasz and three-star LB Joshua Bates. Webb is another Florida recruit (Jacksonville), Hasz is from Bixby, Oklahoma, and Bates from Durango, Colorado.
