Oklahoma football: Sooners’ 2023 class lands another 5-star WR
By Chip Rouse
You win some and you lose some on the recruiting trail, and on Sunday the Oklahoma football program won another big one.
Five-Star wide receiver Brandon Iniss committed to the Sooners and becomes the sixth member of Oklahoma’s 2023 recruiting class. Iniss, from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, is the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2023 class and No. 9 recruit overall, according to the 247Sports Player Composite.
Iniss chose Oklahoma over offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Miami (Florida) and others. His commitment comes a week after five-star 2022 WR recruit Luther Burden announced his decommitment from the Sooners.
Oklahoma had been after Iniss for over a year. The Sooners extended a scholarship offer to the talented recruit in March 2020. It’s also worth noting that Iniss was one of the two dozen-plus recruits who were in attendance at OU’s Champ U BBQ event in late June. The Sooners have earned several 2022 and ’23 commitments from this event.

OU’s latest 2023 commitment had this to say to 247Sports recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong about his official visit to Norman:
"“The coaches showed a bunch of love. The players, Lincoln Riley’s offense, you can’t go wrong with it.“The whole class in general has a lot of potential. Everybody in the class so far is going to make a big impact in college football.”"
Iniss’ addition brings to six the number of commitments in Oklahoma’s top-ranked 2023 class. He joins five-star QB Malachi Nelson, four-star RB Treyaun Webb, four-star athlete Makai Lemon, four-star TE prospect Luke Hasz, and three-star LB Joshua Bates. The geographic spread of this group amplifies the national reach of the OU brand. Two are from California, two are from Florida and one each from Colorado and Oklahoma.
