Oklahoma football recruiting hit a hot streak this past week, adding five new additions to the Sooners’ 2021 class.

Among those commitments were a pair of four-star offensive linemen and a four-star defensive end prospect. And the Sooners may not be done adding defensive linemen to the class, which is like sweet music to the ears of defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and defensive ends coach Calvin Thibodeaux.

Earlier this week, Derrick Moore, rated the No. 12 defensive line prospect in the 2022 class by 247Sports, announced his commitment to Oklahoma, choosing the Sooners over offers and serious pursuits by Ohio State and Penn State.

Moore, who is from Baltimore, Maryland, has been compared to former Sooner defensive standout Ronnie Perkins, who was one of the main strengths of the Oklahoma defense the past two seasons.

Another highly touted defensive lineman, Omari Obor, a five-star recruit out of Duncanville, Texas, has Oklahoma among the five schools to which he has narrowed his recruitment consideration. His finalists are Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and USC and the Sooners, according to Ari Wasserman of The Athletic.

Another defensive recruit to keep an eye on is four-star defensive lineman Hero Kanu out of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, about an hour southeast of downtown Los Angeles.  Rated by 247Sports as the No. 13 defensive lineman in the 2022 class, Kanu has longer list of nine top considerations, including the Sooners. The list also includes Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Ohio State, USC and Washington. The only Power Five conference he isn’t highly considering is the Big Ten.

On Friday, it was disclosed that heavily recruited five-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell, from Arlington, Texas, has Oklahoma among his five finalists, along with Texas, Alabama, LSU and USC. Some pretty heavy company, all queued up to land his services, but at least the Sooners are in the mix, and with one of the best offensive line coaches in college football in Bill Bedenbaugh leading the OU effort.

Campbell is rated as the top offensive guard in the 2022 class by 247Sports.
