An Oklahoma gymnast is a Top-Three Finalist for the prestigious Honda Cup, recognizing the top women’s athlete in collegiate sports.

Senior Anastasia Webb, who led the Sooner women to a second place finish at this year’s NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship, is one of the top-three finalists for the top women’s award and the first Oklahoma gymnast to be so honored.

The two other finalists are UCLA softball pitcher Rachel Garcia and Kentucky volleyball player Madison Lilley.

Webb was the 2021 Honda Sport Award winner for women’s gymnastics, now she is among the top three finalists for the top Honda Sport award for all women’s sports categories: the Honda Cup.

According to the administrators of the Honda Cup award, the finalists exhibit the very best attributes of all Honda Sport Award winners, including excellence and leadership in their sport, as well as outstanding academic achievement and community involvement.

In leading Oklahoma to a runner-up finish in the 2021 NCAA Championship, the senior frim Morton Grove, Illinois, a half-hour’s drive north of downtown Chicago, was the only gymnast in the country to earn first-team All-America honors in all four events and the all-around. Her 20 career All-America titles ranks second in program history.

Webb was crowned the national champion in two events ( vault and floor exercise) and the all-around in this year’s NCAA Women’s Championship

The Big 12 Gymnast of the Year achieved four perfect 10s this season (two on vault and one each on bars and beam). She won 33 event championships in 2021 and finished her collegiate career at OU with 67 event titles. The latter ranks second all-time in Sooner program history.
