Oklahoma gymnast Anastasia Webb has been named winner of the coveted Honda Sport Award for women’s college gymnastics.

The Honda Sport Award is presented annually by the Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards organization to top female athletes in 12 sports sanctioned by the NCAA and, in the organization’s own words, recognizes “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” This is the 45th year the award has been presented.

The OU senior is the fourth Oklahoma woman athlete to win the national award. She joins former Sooner gymnasts Kelly Garrison (1987 and 1988) and Maggie Nichols (2019) and softball pitcher Keilani Ricketts (2012 and 2013).

Webb this season became the ninth gymnast in NCAA history to win three individual national titles in one season. She was crowned national champion in three events — all-around, vault and floor exercise — in leading Oklahoma to a runner-up finish in the recently completed NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship in Ft. Worth, Texas.

This past season, she scored four perfect 10s, two on vault and one each on the uneven bars and beam. For her OU career, Webb captured 67 event wins, which ranks second all-time in program history.

A 2021 All-American, Webb also was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Year and Region 4 Gymnast of the Year. She was the only woman gymnast in the country this season to be named a First-Team All-American in all four individual events as well as the all-around. Over her career, she has earned 20 All-America honors.

The winner of each Honda Sport Award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year Award as well as the 2021 Honda Cup
