Oklahoma basketball is playing a second game in the Big 12 Tournament for the first time in five seasons.

That’s the extent of the good news, however, because the No. 7 seed Sooners are matched up in the quarterfinal round with the Kansas Jayhawks, the only Big 12 team that has an all-time winning record against Oklahoma in basketball.

Kansas owns a decisive 151-69 record historically against Oklahoma, and the Jayhawks are 21-8 when playing the Sooners on a neutral court (a.k.a. Kansas City).

Here are some numbers to keep in mind for the 3rd meeting this season between OU and Kansas:

4-7 — Oklahoma’s record against Kansas in the conference tournament. The last time these two teams met in the conference tournament was in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. Kansas won that game 64-47.

5 — Oklahoma has played in five Big 12 Tournament championship games and won three times.

12-9-6-5 — In the Sooners opening-round win over Iowa State, junior guard Elijah Harkless scored 12 points, with nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.

13.0 — Scoring average by Kansas’ David McCormick in the two games against Oklahoma this season. McCormick will not play against the Sooners in Thursday’s quarterfinal game. He was ruled out earlier this week because of COVID-19 protocols.

15.5 — OU sophomore guard De’Vion Harmon scored a combined 31 points — a 15.5 average — in the two regular-season games with Kansas this season.

20.6 — Scoring average for OU’s Austin Reaves in his last 10 games. The Big 12’s second-leading scorer has scored no fewer than 16 points in his last 10 games.

23-20 — Oklahoma’s record in the Big 12 Tournament.

50.9 — The Sooners’ shooting percentage in the win over Iowa State on Wednesday. That was OU’s best shooting game since the home win over Iowa State on Feb. 6.

84 — Most points by Oklahoma in a Big 12 Tournament game, in the quarterfinals against Missouri in 2000.

2016 — If Oklahoma is able to beat Kansas on Thursday it will advance to the semifinals. The last time the Sooners made it that far in the Big 12 Tournament was in 2016. That season, OU defeated Iowa State in the quarterfinals, then lost to West Virginia in the semifinals when what appeared to be a game-winning three-point shot by Buddy Hield was reviewed and overturned after the final buzzer.
