Two Oklahoma football players have been named to the 2020 Associated Press All-America Team.

Redshirt sophomore linebacker Nik Bonitto received second-team AP All-America honors and junior center Creed Humphrey was named to the third team.

Bonitto has been a major contributor on an Oklahoma defense that has made the leap from improved to formidable this season. He has recorded 7.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and is credited with 29 total stops. He is the team leader with 10 quarterback hurries, one of which led to the interception of Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy that sealed the Sooners’ win in the 2020 Big 12 Championship.

Humphrey was a preseason first-team All-American selection this season by several news organizations, including the Associated Press. He was a consensus second-team All-American last season.

Frankly, I was surprised to see that the anchor of the OU offensive line had fallen to third team when the AP announcement came out on Monday. His performance and productivity this season has been as impressive, if not more so, as it was a year ago, when he earned second-team AP All-America honors.

Humphrey has started the last 35 games for Oklahoma, dating back to his freshman season in 2018. He was the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year this season as well as an All-Big 12 First-Team selection. He has not allowed a sack in 373 pass plays this season, according to statistics provided by Pro Football Focus.

Both players will be active for No. 6 Oklahoma take on the No. 7 Florida Gators in the Cotton Bowl Classic on Wednesday.
