Oklahoma football capped off its big weekend win over Oklahoma State by sweeping Big 12 weekly honors.

Quarterback Spencer Rattler was named both Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week. And on the defensive side, junior defensive end Ronnie Perkins was honored as Defensive Player of the Week in the conference.

Rattler, a redshirt-freshman in his first season starting for the Sooners, accounted for all five of Oklahoma’s touchdowns Saturday night in the win over Oklahoma State. He threw four touchdown passes and scored OU’s first touchdown on a seven-yard run.

The Phoenix, Arizona, native completed 17 of 24 passes for 301 yards, the fourth time this season he has thrown for at least 300 yards.

Perkins led an OU defense that held Oklahoma State to just 13 points and 246 yards of total offense, both of which were the Cowboys’ lowest total of the season. The junior defensive end was credited with five tackles, including three tackles for loss, and two sacks against Oklahoma State in his third game back from a six-game suspension that began just ahead of the Sooners’ College Football Playoff appearance last season.

Perkins set the tone for the OU defense, breaking through on the very first Oklahoma State offensive play and forcing the Cowboy quarterback Spencer Sanders into an intentional grounding penalty.

This is Rattler’s first offensive player award and the second time he has received Big 12 Newcomer weekly honors. The is the first time Perkins has received top defensive honors in the conference.

Seven Oklahoma players have received 10 Big 12 weekly awards this season.
