Former Oklahoma football tight end Grant Calcaterra is transferring to Auburn.

In three seasons at Oklahoma, Calcaterra played in 33 games. He made 41 catches for 637 yards and nine touchdowns.

Calcaterra played in just five games his junior season, in 2019, and in November of that season he announced he was retiring from football after suffering multiple concussions.

His final game for Oklahoma was Oct. 5, 2019, against Kansas. He had one catch in that game for 19 yards.

Calcaterra, who resides in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, about 50 miles outside of Los Angeles. graduated from Oklahoma this past spring. He has one year of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to play immediately for Auburn in the 2021 season as a graduate transfer.

The 6-foot, 4-inch, 230-pound tight end tweeted on Wednesday:

"“A year ago I would have never pictured my life the way it is now. I don’t believe in bad situations, just opportunities for growth. I’m more than grateful for the past year, but even more excited for my future challenges. Thanks again Sooner Nation.” #WarEagle"

Calcaterra’s best season at OU was in 2018, his sophomore year. He had 26 receptions that season for 396 yards and six touchdowns. He was named First Team All-Big 12.

In the 2018 Big 12 championship game against Texas, Calcaterra caught three passes, including a one-handed touchdown catch from Kyler Murray with two minutes remaining for the game’s final score in a 39-27 Oklahoma victory and a fourth consecutive conference crown for the Sooners.

Calcaterra was a four-star recruit and member of Oklahoma’s top-10 2017 recruiting class, the final one under Bob Stoops. He chose Oklahoma over offers from Florida, Nebraska, Texas A&M and others.
