The 42-point Oklahoma football win at Texas Tech could, and maybe should, have been even greater.

On a day when the Big 12 race changed dramatically and favorably for Oklahoma, the Sooner team that everyone expected to show up finally did…and in a big way.

The 62 points scored by Oklahoma were the most this season and the first time the Sooners have scored 60 points or more in a game since defeating South Dakota 70-14 in the second game of the 2019 season. The last time OU scored that many points against a Big 12 opponent was in 2018 when the Sooners beat Baylor 66-33 in Norman.

Saturday night was a big game for the Sooners on several fronts. Here are some of the numbers that help tell the story of the game:

2/9 — The Oklahoma defense recorded two sacks and nine tackles for loss against Texas Tech. In the Sooners’ last three games, all wins, they have totaled 11 sacks and 28 tackles for loss.

4 of 11 — The Sooners were successful in holding Texas Tech to 4 of 11 third-down conversions.

6 — Six of the Sooners eight touchdowns against Texas Tech were rushing TDs, the most since OU collected seven scores on the ground, coincidentally, against the Red Raiders in 2015.

6 — After punting on its opening possession, Oklahoma scored on its next six possessions, all in the opening half.

8 — Oklahoma has won eight straight games played on Halloween and this is the Sooners ninth straight win over Texas Tech.

12 — The win over Texas Tech gives Oklahoma 12 consecutive wins over teams from the state of Texas.

26 — Oklahoma has now won 26 of its last 28 true road games.

42 — Unanswered points scored by the Sooners in about 14 minutes of game time after Texas Tech took a 7-0 lead on the opening possession of the game.

48 — Oklahoma first-half points were the most by the Sooners in an opening half since scoring 49 against Nebraska in 2008.

58 — The Sooners have scored at least 28 points in 58 consecutive games.

200Spencer Rattler has passed for at least 200 yards and thrown two or more touchdowns in every game this season. He had 288 yards passing and two TDs against Texas Tech.

213 — Season-high rushing yards by the OU running backs against the Texas Tech defense.
