Ranked No. 3 in the country a little over a week ago, the Oklahoma football team in now no longer to be found in college football’s top 25.

Following the Sooners’ second straight loss of the 2020 season, a 37-30 road loss at Iowa State, Oklahoma dropped out of the rankings in both the weekly Associated Press Poll and the Coaches Poll. You have to go back to the 2014 season for the last time the Sooners have not been ranked.

In the past two weeks, Oklahoma has gone from No. 3 in both polls to No. 18 in the AP poll and 16 in the Coaches Poll to completely out of the rankings this week. Based on the votes they received, the Sooners would be No. 36 in this week’s AP rankings and No. 30 in the Coaches Poll.

Texas, which lost at home on Saturday to TCU, dropped 13 spots to No, 22 in both polls. Oklahoma State is now the highest ranked team from the Big 12, moving into the No, 10 spot after a blowout win over Kansas.

Iowa State, which started the season ranked in the top 25, moved back into the rankings at No, 24.

In addition to Oklahoma State, Texas and Iowa State, Kansas State, which defeated the Sooners a week ago, and TCU both received more votes than Oklahoma this week.

Clemson Alabama, Georgia and Florida remain the top four teams, with Georgia and Florida swapping places. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and North Carolina round out the top 10, even though Ohio State and Penn State do not play their first game until later this month.

When the Sooners dropped out of the top 10 last week, it marked the first time in the last 59 Associated Press polls that they had not been ranked in the top 10.
