Before even a single down has been played in the 2020 season, three Oklahoma football seniors have been named to the Senior Bowl watch list.
Defensive back Tre Brown, running back Rhamondre Stevenson and defensive lineman LaRon Stokes are among those college seniors named to the Senior Bowl Top 250.
The list includes players who will have completed their college eligibility this year and are under consideration to be invited to play in the annual event played every January in Mobile, Alabama, to showcase to showcase the best NFL prospects.
Entering his senior season this fall, Brown has played in 41 games for the Sooners and started in 23. He has 110 career tackles to his credit, 90 of them of the solo variety, and he was responsible for two of the biggest plays in OU’s past two Big 12 Championship games.
In 2018, Brown sacked Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger in the end zone for a safety late in the game that helped seal a Sooner victory, and last season, he sacked the Baylor quarterback on a fourth-down play to preserve an Oklahoma win.
Stevenson, who transferred to OU from Cerritos College in California, gained 515 rushing years a year ago and scored a team-tying six rushing touchdowns. His 8.0 yards per carry last season was a team best. He is expected to miss up to five games to start the 2020 season with a carryover suspension for failing a drug test just ahead of last season’s College Football Playoff game with LSU.
Stokes was another junior-college pick-up, out of nearby Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. He started 10 games for the Sooners last season and was named Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
A total of 115 Oklahoma players have played in the Senior Bowl since the game’s introduction in 1950.
