Most of the college football world is keeping a close eye these days on 2021 recruiting, but the Oklahoma football coaches are busy pulling double duty, looking ahead to both 2021 and 2022.
The Sooners have added three top 2021 commitments this month, including the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2021 class, and this week they added a four-star wide receiver for 2022.
Jordan Hudson, from Garland, Texas, is Oklahoma’s second commitment in the 2022 class. According to Bob Przybyio, who covers OU for Rivals.com, the Sooners extended a scholarship offer to Hudson in February at Oklahoma’s junior day. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has not been able to make a return visit to the OU campus.
This is a big pickup for the Sooners. Even though he has a couple of high school years remaining, Hudson had offers from a number major programs around the country, including Alabama, LSU and Oregon.
His sophomore season at Garland High School last fall, Hudson caught 80 passes for 1,285 yards and 20 touchdowns. He averaged over 16 yards per catch and was named Texas District 10-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
Although it is too early in the process for a national rating by Rivals, 247Sports rates Hudson as one of the top-15 wide receivers in the 2022 class.
Hudson is the first offensive player to commit to Oklahoma for 2022. He joins Kobe McKinzie, a four-star linebacker prospect out of Lubbock, Texas.
The Sooners currently have 12 commitments in their 2021, including two five-star recruits. Rivals ranks the 2021 OU class No. 15 at this stage of recruiting cycle.
