Oklahoma football: Six Sooners among College Football News’ Top-30 Big 12 Players

In case you missed it, College Football News recently published a list of the top 30 players in the Big 12 for 2020. Six Oklahoma football players are on the list.
Players from the Sooner State dominate the list with a total of 11 of what are considered the best 30 players in the Big 12 this season coming from either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State. Iowa State placed four players on the list and three other teams — Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia — have three apiece.
There is at least one player from every Big 12 school among the top 30 players.
While the Sooners led all Big 12 teams with six players among the top 30, only one OU player was ranked in the top 10. Junior center Creed Humphrey, a preseason All-American candidate, is the highest ranked Sooner at No. 5.
The Sooner players listed in the CFN Big 12 Top 30 include four offensive players and two defensive players. After Humphrey at No. 5, there are no OU players until No. 18, which is redshirt-junior offensive guard Marquis Hayes. Four more Sooners are clustered between 21 and 27.
Junior defensive end Ronnie Perkins is No. 21 in the CFN ranking, followed by redshirt-freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler at No. 24, redshirt-sophomore Jalen Redmond No. 26 and redshirt-junior running back Kennedy Brooks No. 27.
The No. 1 player in the Big 12 for the coming season, according to College Football News, is Oklahoma State junior running back Chuba Hubbard. followed by senior Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, junior Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy and Texas junior offensive lineman Sam Cosmi, Jr.
Texas and Oklahoma State both have two players in the top 10. Senior wide-receiver Tylan Wallace is the second OSU player in the top 10.

A year ago, Oklahoma placed four players in the top 10 and five in the top 15 of the CFN Preseason Big 12 Top 30 Players.
