The Oklahoma football 2021 recruiting class grew by one on Friday.

One of the country’s top JUCO defensive players committed to the Sooners on Friday, increasing the total commitments for the Sooner 2021 class to eight.

Six-foot, 3-inch, 305-pound Isaiah Coe is rated as one of the top-three defensive tackles coming out of the junior-college ranks in 2021, according to 247Sports, and the fifth defensive player to commit as a member of the Sooners’ 2021 class, reflecting the importance being placed on defensive improvement by both Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Alex
Grinch.

Coe is one of top 20 overall players in the junior-college ranks and the No. 3 defensive tackle, according to 247Sports. His, size, speed and athleticism and his ability to get off the line with a quick step are his major attributes as a defensive lineman.

In his freshman season at Iowa Western Community College, Coe contributed 37 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and was credited with 6.5 sacks.

An Illinois native, from Flossmoor, a suburban community located south of downtown Chicago, Coe is a former teammate of Perrion Winfrey at Iowa Western. Winfrey and Josh Ellison, both defensive tackles, were major junior-college pickups for the Sooners in the 2020 recruiting class.

Winfrey is expected to have a big impact on the OU defensive line in the coming season.

Coe reportedly picked Oklahoma over offers from Kansas State, Missouri, Ole Miss and Arkansas, among others.

With eight commitments, Oklahoma ranks 22nd in the ESPN 2021 team recruiting rankings and 28th in the 247Sports class rankings. The Sooners have gained three commitments in the last three weeks.
