Oklahoma football moved up another spot to No. 6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, but have they done enough to get within striking distance of the top four?

As expected, Oklahoma football benefitted from an Alabama loss in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, rising one spot from No. 7 to No. 6, two spots outside the top four.

Ohio State, LSU, Clemson, Georgia and Utah all come in ahead of the Sooners, meaning Oklahoma still doesn’t control its own destiny going into championship week.

What went right?

As stated above, the Sooners moved up a spot, but are still ranked one place below a Utah team with no wins over ranked foes.

Oklahoma’s resume got a bit of a boost with Oklahoma State staying in the top 25, giving OU a dominant road win over a CFP ranked opponent. As expected, Iowa State fell out of the rankings after a loss to Kansas State. More unfortunately for the Sooners, the Wildcats weren’t quite able to climb back into the rankings themselves.

The Sooners got some better news near the top where Baylor leapfrogged its way up from No. 9 to No. 7, giving Oklahoma a shot at a legit contender for the CFP in the final week of the year.
