Oklahoma football took control of the game in the second half to pull away for a dominant 34-16 victory over rival Oklahoma State.

Here are four takeaways from a physical Oklahoma football win.

The Oklahoma offense has evolved this year

We all knew the Sooners were going to be a different kind of team in 2019 with the addition of Jalen Hurts, but the stat box from the last two games is nothing short of jarring for fans of the Sooners used to the Baker Mayfield-Kyler Murray offenses of the past.

The Sooners threw just 17 passes this week – one from receiver Nick Basquine – compared to 44 runs. This comes a week after rushing 64 times against TCU.

Teams have continued to drop eight, play zone coverage and attempt to take away the Sooners’ deep passing game and Oklahoma hasn’t batted an eye in changing up its style. All of the Lincoln Riley offenses of the past have been able to take over games on the ground at times, but this year’s version is committing itself to roughing up opponents in ways we haven’t seen before.

Which brings us to our next point.
