These five signal callers will test the Oklahoma football defense the most.

Thanks to an always-tough non-conference schedule, a spot in the Big 12 and regular visits to prestigious postseason destinations, Oklahoma football is used to seeing great quarterbacks line up on the other side of the ball.

These are the five best signal callers the Sooners will face off against in 2019.

Alan Bowman, Texas Tech

Sooner fans got a heck of a scare on a Saturday night in Lubbock last year thanks to Alan Bowman’s first half antics. The Texas Tech quarterback 21-of-26 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns in what amounted to one half of play before having to leave the game with an injury.

If Bowman had played the entire game there’s a chance Oklahoma doesn’t escape the night date with the Red Raiders with a 51-46 victory and its College Football Playoff hopes intact.

Bowman would miss the rest of the season, but still threw for 2,638 yards and 17 touchdowns in an injury-shortened campaign.

He’s back completely healthy this year and more than likely looking for revenge against the team that ended his 2018 season early.
