Tre Norwood, Tre Brown, Parnell Motley and redshirt freshman Miguel Edwards all look to compete at the two cornerback spots with  two more highly-coveted true freshmen hoping to crack into the two deep in Woodi Washington and Jaden Davis.

Grinch talked about having more options in the defensive backfield and what that does for his team.

“You eliminate the survival element in practice,” he said during his press conference. “Where it’s OK to just survive a given drill, a given seven-on-seven period or a given 11-on-11 period. And why can’t you survive it, because there’s a guy we can bring in for you. And a legitimate guy we can bring in for you.” … “When you bring a guy in that’s not capable of executing at a certain level, then he knows that it’s not true competition.”

Grinch did clear up one question concerning sophomore Brenden Radley-Hiles, a five-star cornerback in the 2018 class, saying he will continue to play in the nickel role in Grinch’s scheme in 2019, but expect this depth chart to change throughout fall camp and quite possibly into the season until Grinch finds the right combination to work in his scheme.
