Oklahoma football is set to begin fall camp with less than a month now standing between Sooner fans and the season opener against Houston.

While the Crimson and Creme faithful are counting down the days, the Oklahoma football coaching staff and players still have a lot to accomplish including several key position battles that will need to be sorted out before the Sooners take the field on Sept. 1.

In the first of a two-part series, we take a look at the storylines surrounding the Sooner offense.

Fresh start

Don’t bother looking at a depth chart from the 2018 season, because defensive coordinator Alex Grinch isn’t.

The Sooners started fresh in the spring with no carryover from anything that happened in the past affecting this year’s playing time. It’s a standard move that most coaches employ when bringing in a new scheme or system.

“We didn’t take a lot of stock in what’s taken place in the past,” Grinch said during his local media day press conference. “That’s the responsible thing to do. (We had a) Open-minded, fresh start just like we expected those guy to have with our coaching staff.”

Of course guys like Kenneth Murray and Neville Gallimore look like they have shaken themselves loose from the crowd at their respective positions of middle linebacker and nose guard, but there’s still a lot of flux, which brings us to…
