Oklahoma football is locked in a tight recruiting battle for the services of four-star safety Bryson Washington.
Washington is the No. 8 safety and No. 20 overall player in the state of Texas, according to Rivals.
The C.E. King (Houston, Texas) product has narrowed his choices down to Oklahoma and Texas and the Red River rivals are both pushing hard to pull in the talented prospect. He also holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State and several others.
Washington made his official visit to Texas this past weekend as part of the Longhorns annual pool party event and now seems set to make his decision in the near future.
Sooner fans should feel pretty good about their chances as three 247 writers have picked Oklahoma as the favorite to land Washington, but a late official visit always has the potential to throw a monkey wrench into any recruiting plans.
For what it’s worth, Washington isn’t just a highly-ranked athlete. He fits in perfect with the Alex Grinch scheme as a physical tackler and ball-hawking defensive back who goes up and takes the football in 50-50 situations. It’s the kind of defensive back that a team can build the rest of the secondary around.
Will the Sooners be the team to pick up the pledge from Washington? Can Alex Grinch continue his recent run of recruiting success and bolster the 2020 class with a top-end pledge?
We’ll all be waiting patiently until the star athlete makes his final decision and announces on Twitter. Until then, be sure to keep up to date with all things recruiting right here at Stormin in Norman .
