The Oklahoma softball loss in Game 1 of the Women’s College World Series was a night to remember for all the wrong reasons if you are a Sooner fan.

The nation’s top-ranked team, not only in its NCAA Tournament seeding but in most major statistical categories this season, was embarrassed in a 16-3 trouncing on college softball’s biggest stage. With the loss in Game 1, the Sooners face elimination in Tuesday night’s second game in the championship series.

Here are some of the record-setting numbers from Game 1 of the WCWS championship series:

3 –– Number of teams that have won the Women’s College World Series after losing Game 1 of the championship series.

6 — There were six home runs hit in the game, four by UCLA. The four fence-clearing blasts by the Bruins is a record for a WCWS game.

13 — Oklahoma’s 13-run loss to UCLA on Monday is the second-worst loss ever suffered by a Patty Gasso-coached Sooner team. Arizona beat the Sooners 19-1 in 1995, her first season at the helm of OU softball. That also was the last season of the Big Eight Conference.

14-0 — In the 14 WCWS games so far, the team that scores first has won every game.

16 – UCLA’s 16-run explosion represents the most runs scored in a WCWS championship game or series. It also is the same number of runs allowed by OU pitchers in the Sooners’ last 17 games combined.

79 — The percentage of teams that have gone on to win a WCWS title after winning Game 1.

8,468 — The record attendance on hand for Game 1 of the championship series between OU and UCLA, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in this year’s NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
