A 13-0 Iowa State run over a four-minute stretch midway through the second half broke open a close game and resulted in an eighth consecutive Oklahoma basketball loss at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

The Cyclones opened the second half hitting seven of their first 10 shots. With Iowa State leading by three points, 50-47, at the 12:59 mark in the second half, the Sooners failed to score over the next three and a half minutes. Meanwhile, the Cyclones rang up 13 unanswered points to open up a 63-47 advantage and basically put the game on ice.

For Oklahoma to have a realistic chance to win this game it had to shoot well, which it did in the opening 20 minutes but was unable to sustain for the entire game.

The win gives Iowa State a sweep of the season series with the Sooners. The Cyclones won 75-74 earlier this month in Norman. With the loss, OU’s Big 12 record falls to 5-10, and it snaps a two-game Sooner winning streak. The Sooners are 17-11 on the season.

With three regular-season games remaining (against West Virginia, Kansas and Kansas State), two of them at home, Oklahoma needs to win at least two of the three if it hopes to secure an NCAA Tournament bid.

The Sooners are next in action on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center against West Virginia.
