The Sooners turned what was already an impressive receiver recruiting group into a historic one when Jadon Haselwood announced his decision on Saturday.

The five-star receiver made his announcement during the All American Bowl in San Antonio, an annual all star game that has produced talents like Adrian Peterson, Demarco Murray and Andrew Luck in the past.

In addition to the announcement Jadon Haselwood also caught a physical, explosive touchdown pass in the first half.

Jadon Haselwood is a 6-foot-3, 195 pound receiver from Ellenwood, Ga. He is the No. 6 overall recruit and No. 1 wide receiver according to 247 sports. He is the No. 4 overall recruit and No. 2 wide receiver according to Rivals. He was originally committed to Georgia, but opened his recruiting back up late in 2018.

His announcement completes what might be the best pure-talent wide receiver recruiting class in the modern era. Jadon Haselwood, along with Theo Wease and Trejan Bridges have all earned five-star ratings according to Rivals.

The Sooners are the first school in the modern recruiting era to land three five-star players at the position. In addition they also have four-star tight end Austin Stogner signed in the class, giving Oklahoma an elite group of pass-catching options.

The Sooners rose three spots from No. 6 to No. 3 in the Rivals rankings and from No. 7 to No. 4 in the 247 sports rankings because of the commitment.

Given head coach Lincoln Riley and position coaches Cale Gundy and Dennis Simmons’ ability to develop receivers into NFL talents (Sterling Shepard, Dede Westbrook and soon-to-be Marquise Brown) there is good reason to believe this group will be in good hands through their high school career.
