Oklahoma football is in its 124th season, and the Sooners and Kansas State have played a game in 98 of those seasons. Saturday’s matchup in Norman will be No. 99 in the series.

The Sooners have won 75 of the previous 98 encounters with their longtime conference foe from the neighboring state to the north, and are the only current Big 12 team with a winning record against the Wildcats.

Oklahoma comes into Saturday’s Homecoming game fresh off a 52-27 victory over TCU, with a 6-1 record overall and a No. 8 ranking in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls this week. Kansas State has had an extra week to prepare for the Sooners. The Wildcats picked up their first Big 12 win of the season the weekend before last with a solid 31-12 win over Oklahoma State.

Head coach Lincoln Riley is 3-0 against Kansas State in his three seasons at Oklahoma (two of them as the team’s offensive coordinator), but the Sooners are just 4-2 versus K-State in the last six meetings between the two schools. And both of those losses came in Norman, where OU has only lost a total of 10 games in the last 19 seasons.

Here are some more notable numbers to help you get ready for the Oklahoma-Kansas State matchup on Saturday:

3 — Oklahoma has three turnovers in four Big 12 games, the second fewest in the conference (behind TCU with two). The Sooners have just 19 turnovers since the start of the 2017 season. That is tied for sixth fewest nationally.

6 — The road team has won six of the last seven meetings between Oklahoma and Kansas State.

8.69 — Nation-leading yards per play averaged by the OU offense this season. The single-season record is 8.3 yards per play, set by the Sooners last season.

27 — This is 79-year-old Bill Snyder’s 27th season as the head coach at Kansas State (1989-2005 and 2009-present). He has a record 213-114-1 at K-State.

48.6 — The Sooners’ points-per-game average, best in the Big 12 and third-best nationally.

60.6 — Average number of offensive plays by the Oklahoma offense this season. That ranks 128th out of 130 FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) teams this season, yet OU ranks seventh in the country in total yards of offense per game (526.3).

82 — Eighty-two percent of Oklahoma’s touchdown drives this season (36 of 44) have taken less than three minutes of game time.

113 – Oklahoma leads the Big 12 in defending against the run. The Sooners are allowing just 113 yards per game and an average of 3.4 yards per carry in four Big 12 games.

125 — A Kansas State win on Saturday would give Bill Snyder his 125th Big 8/Big 12 conference win.

202 — Kansas State is the Big 12’s second-best rushing team behind Oklahoma. The Cats are averaging 202 yards per game on the ground in conference play.
