Oklahoma football: Eleven Sooners up for 10 individual national awards

The month of July is when most of the individual national award sponsors reveal their preseason candidate lists, and their us usually a good representation of Oklahoma football players.
This year is no exception. Eleven different Sooners are named to the preseason watch lists for 10 national awards.
The biggest and best of the individual awards is the Heisman Trophy. The candidate list for that coveted individual honor evolves as the college football season progresses. There are no Sooners on the short list of preseason Heisman candidates at this early stage, but Oklahoma does have the reigning Heisman winner in Baker Mayfield, and three Sooner players have captured college football’s most prestigious award three times in the past 14 seasons.
Preseason watch list have been announced for at least 15 individual awards. Oklahoma is represented in nine of them.
