Oklahoma football: Five opposing defensive jersey numbers to be mindful of in 2018

Earlier this week, we called out the players we believe to be the five best on offense that Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma football team will go up against in the 2018 season.

Today, we shift to the other side of the ball and single out the five jersey numbers that are expected to give Riley and the Sooners the most fits on defense this season.

For the last three years, or since the arrival of Lincoln Riley, first as offensive coordinator and now as Oklahoma’s 22nd head coach, the Sooners have possessed one of the most prolific, high-scoring offenses in college football.

Baker Mayfield was the starting quarterback in all three seasons Riley has been at Oklahoma. Mayfield has moved on to bigger and better things, so there will be a new sheriff behind center directing the Sooner offense this season. But that is not expected to change things all that much as far as the OU offense is concerned.

The Sooners still have loads of talent and plenty of playmakers to call on and create headaches for the defenses Oklahoma will face in the coming season.
