The men’s Oklahoma golf team is 18 holes away from winning its second Big 12 Golf Championship.

Led by Grant Hirschman’s two-under-par 68, the lowest score of the day, the Sooners shot a team score of one-over 281 in the third round of the 72-hole championship on Tuesday to take over the lead from second-round leader Iowa State, which finished with five-over 285 on Tuesday.

Three teams (Oklahoma, defending conference champion Texas and Baylor) finished with 18-hole scores of 281 in the third round at the par-70, 7,158-yard Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Hirschman is tied at the top of the individual leaderboard as well, with a 54-hole total of even-par 210 (75-67-68). He is tied with Doug Ghim of Texas.

After 54 holes, Oklahoma (852) leads Iowa State (854) by two strokes with 18 holes left to play. Oklahoma State and Texas are tied for third (858), six shots off the pace, and Baylor is in fifth place with a 54-hole score (851) that is nine strokes back of the Sooners.

OU’s Quade Cummins, a redshirt sophomore who was tied with Hirschman for sixth place on the leaderboard after 36 holes, shot a 71 (+1) on Tuesday and remains in sixth place, three over par (75-67-71=213) after three rounds. Junior Brad Dalke is at five-over 215 (72-73-70), tied for 12th place.

Senior Rylee Reinertson shot a 74 in the third round and is at 218 (72-72-74), tied for 21st place at eight over par. Junior Blaine Hale is one shot back of Reinertson (76-71-72) heading into Wednesday’s final round.

"“The weather is going to be different Wednesday,” said Oklahoma head coach Ryan Hybl in a statement published on the OU athletic website.“It’s going to get tougher, and we’re going to have to dig in our heels and try to figure out how to manage the golf course. Tomorrow the guys that make the least mistakes will win.”"

The weather forecast for the Tulsa area on Wednesday is cloudy, a high in the low 60s and a 100-percent chance of rain.
