Oklahoma football coaches are making a final push this week to add to an already strong 2018 recruiting class with round two of National Signing Day on Wednesday.

The Sooners picked up 18 early signees in December and have three others committed, with a good chance of adding two or three additional highly-rated prospects by Wednesday.

According to Rivals.com, Oklahoma’s 2018 recruiting class currently ranks as the country’s sixth best. This could change, however, after Wednesday, and head coach Lincoln Riley and his coaching staff are giving it their all this week to make it two consecutive top-10 recruiting class. The 2018 class will be the first under Riley, who replaced Bob Stoops following his retirement last June.

The Sooners current 18-member class of 2018 includes one five-star recruit and 14 four-star prospects. Oklahoma has stocked up on defense with 12 defensive players in the class and eight offensive players. The heaviest recruited position so far is at defensive back, with four already signed and another committed.

Three prospects have committed to Oklahoma but have not yet signed. Five-star defensive back Brendan Radley-Hines, four-star linebacker DeShaun White and four-star tight end/H-back Brayden Willis are expected to sign on National Signing Day on Wednesday.

Among the highly touted unsigned recruits the Sooners are hopeful of landing on Wednesday are four-star defensive tackle Michael Thompson from St. Louis. It appears that Thompson has narrowed his choice down to Oklahoma or Missouri. At this stage, the chances appear to be good that he will select the Sooners.

Oklahoma also has a good chance to land offensive guard Marcus “Tank” Jenkins, a four-star recruit from Montgomery, Alabama. Ole Miss and Texas A&M are also actively pursuing Jenkins, who is expected to make his announcement on National Signing Day.

The Sooners are believed to have a 50/50 chance of signing three-star defensive tackle Moro Ojomo. There are seven schools who have targeted Ojomo, who hails from the Houston, Texas, area, so OU’s chances of luring him in are probably a stretch.

It’s coming down to the wire, but all indications are Lincoln Riley has put together another outstanding OU football recruiting class. We’ll have the final results on Wednesday.
