For the third consecutive season and the 11th time in the last 18, Oklahoma football is the best the Big 12 has to offer.

With a Big 12 championship freshly in hand, the 12-1 Oklahoma Sooners turn their attention to the College Football Playoff, where they are the No. 2 seed behind reigning national champion Clemson and will face No. Georgia in a national semifinal showdown in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.

The Sooners’ 41-17 win over TCU in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday gives them an 8-1 record in Big 12 title games, including wins in the last three. OU is the only team in the conference with three consecutive conference crowns, and they have done it twice (2015-17 and 2006-08).

Saturday’s victory was Oklahoma’s second over TCU this season. The Sooners won handily in Norman on Nov. 11, 38-20. Oklahoma owns four consecutive wins over the Horned Frogs and has won seven of the last eight.

Here are a dozen more notable numbers from the Sooners’ win on Saturday in the Big 12 Championship:

0 – Number of turnovers by Oklahoma vs. TCU in the Big 12 Championship. That is also the number of turnovers by the Sooners in their last four games.

.889 – The Sooners’ winning percentage in nine Big 12 Championship games. OU is 8-1 in those games.

6 – Consecutive games this season in which Baker Mayfield has thrown three or more touchdown passes in a game.

7 – Receptions by tight end Mark Andrews in the win over TCU. That is a career high in a single game for the OU redshirt junior who had two touchdown catches in the game.

12 – Junior kicker Austin Seibert made two of three field goals in the win over TCU on Saturday. The one he missed, a 43-yarder in the second quarter, snapped a streak of consecutive field goals by Seibert at 12

17 – Oklahoma’s 17 points in the first quarter on Saturday is a Big 12 record for the most points in the opening quarter in Big 12 Championship game history.

18 – Linebacker Caleb Kelly’s 18-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown on TCU’s first possession of the game was the second OU defensive touchdown of the season. The first came on a 77-yard pick-six by Parnell Motley in the third game of the season vs. Tulane.

22 – Number of games out of the last 24 that Oklahoma has won while ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25.

39 – Number of seconds combined for two Oklahoma touchdown drives in the third quarter of Saturday’s Big 12 Championship.

41 – Oklahoma’s point total in its 41-17 win over TCU in the Big 12 Championship. That is the most points scored against TCU all season. The Sooners scored 38 points in the first game between the two teams this season, the most points scored against TCU in 2017.

41 – Touchdowns thrown by quarterback Baker Mayfield this season. That’s No. 2 on the OU career list behind Sam Bradford’s 50 TD passes in 2008.

981 – Sophomore transfer Marquise “Hollywood” Brown had a 52-yard touchdown catch against a very good TCU defense in the Big 12 Championship. He now has 981 receiving yards in the 2017 season, his first at Oklahoma.
