Saturday’s game was supposed to be an easy win for an OU football team that was No. 3 in the country, playing at home and going up against an Iowa State team the Sooners had not lost to since 1991.

As all grieving Sooner fans no by now, the game was anything but what 99.9 percent of the country expected.

Gone is Oklahoma’s 14-game winning streak as well as its string of 17 consecutive Big 12 games.

Here are a couple more one-sided numbers that meant absolutely nothing on Saturday afternoon at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium: Prior to last weekend, Oklahoma was 163-9  since the 1999 season when scoring more than 30 points in a game. Over that same period, the Sooners were 103-9 playing a home.

And that’s why they play the game, despite what prior history has dictated.

Here are a dozen more numbers that came out of Iowa State’s shocking win over the listless Sooners on Saturday:

0 — Number of OU offensive plays that went more than 30 yards against Iowa State.

1 — Sooner wide receiver Jeffery Mead threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Dimitri Flowers in the second quarter of the Iowa State game. It was Mead’s first career pass attempt.

4 — Iowa State plays that gained 30 or more yards against OU on Saturday.

6 — Number of games won by Iowa State over Oklahoma in the 82-game history of the series.

7 — Consecutive seasons in which Oklahoma has lost to a double-digit underdog.

15 — The Sooners scored 31 points on Saturday in a losing effort. They have scored at least 30 points in 15 consecutive games.

18 — Consecutive games in which Baker Mayfield has thrown at least two touchdown passes in a game, a new Oklahoma school record.

31 — Baker Mayfield has thrown a touchdown pass in 31 consecutive games.

75 — Oklahoma’s winning percentage wearing its alternate “Bring the Wood” uniforms. Saturday was the first time, though, the Sooners wore the all-red combination.

113 — Number of consecutive home sellouts at OU since 1999. Saturday’s attendance (86,019) was the 10th largest in the history of the present facility, Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

185 — Number of passes thrown by Baker Mayfield since his last interception. He was 24 of 33 for 306 passing yards and two touchdowns on Saturday.

1986 — The last time an Oklahoma quarterback went seven games without throwing an interception. Of course, the Sooners did not put the ball in the air very much in the era of the Wishbone offense.
