Here are six Oklahoma football greats who would be great company for a dinner party.

As a youngster or as an adult, many of us have played the game, “If you could have any (pick your number) individuals, dead or alive, join you as guests at an ideal dinner party, who would you invite?”

Having gone through this exercise  over this past weekend with a group of friends, it got me wondering, what it we applied this to Oklahoma football greats, past and present?

At first thought, this might seem like an easy exercise. This was my thought when the subject first popped out of the right side of my brain (the so-called creative side). But as I started pondering the possibilities, it quickly dawned on me that limiting the potential guest list from a group of possibilities that could number in the hundreds was a more arduous task than initially realized.

The larger the guest list, the easier — or less selective, at least — the hypothetical exercise, but I’ve chosen to limit the number to six in order to force myself to put some thought into the selection process.

So here we go: If you could have as your dinner guest any six people associated with Oklahoma football throughout history, who would be on your guest list? The possibilities are endless. After all, we’re talking about great names and personalities associated with Oklahoma football that span 122 years of college football greatness.

Let me know who you would invite from Oklahoma football history to join you as guests for your ideal Sooner dinner party.

Here are the six I would like to have as my ideal Oklahoma Sooner dinner guests:
