Oklahoma baseball is off to a banner start in 2017. The Sooners have scored in double digits in more than half of their 22 wins, but on Saturday at Baylor, they came up empty,
The 10th-ranked Sooners’ league-leading hitting ran up against better pitching on Saturday afternoon at Ferrell Field at Baylor Ballpark in Waco as Baylor shut out OU 7-0 in the middle game of the three-game series.
It was only the fifth loss of the season for Oklahoma and the second time they have failed to score.

The Sooners managed eight hits against Baylor, but also left eight men stranded on the base paths.
Every player in the Sooner starting lineup had at least one hit except sophomore outfielder . The irony of that stat is that Walker has been one of the most reliable hitters on the team and leads the Big 12 in total bases with 61. Walker was 0 for 4 in the game.
Oklahoma grounded into a season-high five double plays on Saturday at Baylor.
The Sooners got their leadoff hitter on base in the fourth, sixth and ninth innings, but each time, the runner was wiped out by a Baylor double play.

While the Sooner baseball team was going scoreless at Baylor, the reigning Women’s College World Series-champion Oklahoma softball squad was extending its current winning streak to four games with a doubleheader sweep of Louisiana Tech and the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday.
What’s more the Lady Sooners, now 27-7 overall in 2017 and ranked 12th in the country in the most recent ESPN/USA Softball poll, achieved the twin-bill victory on the same field, ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, where they captured their third national championship last spring. Oklahoma has won 10 straight regular-season games at ASA Stadium.
