Dede Westbrook Steps up to No. 1 in Receiving Corps
Dede Westbrook is the Sooners leading returning wide receiver from a year ago and will lead a receiving corps that is short on experience but long on talent and roster depth.
This will be 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver’s second season at OU, having come to Norman as a highly-touted junior-college transfer from Blinn (Texas) Community College. His 2015 production included 46 receptions for 743 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 16.2 yards per catch last season for the Sooners.
Westbrook has shown he has the ability to stretch the field vertically as well as operate effectively in short and intermediate receiving routes.
His best game last season was against West Virginia. Westbrook caught five passes in that game for 107 yards. He also had three other games in 2015 in which he totaled more than 80 yards in pass receiving.
Big 12 writers recognized Westbrook’s offensive contributions in 2015, naming him Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
