There are a number of reasons to be excited about the prospects of OU football in the coming season.

And it’s not always about what happens on the field that triggers that emotional high inflated by a  rapid build up of excitement and anticipation. Everything in and around you feeds into the sometimes deceiving notion that all is marvelously well, and there is no compelling reason to feel otherwise or entertain the thought that it won’t remain that way for the foreseeable future.

Enough with the philosophical pitter patter. The naked truth is, things are very good these days in Norman, Okla., and fans of one of college football’s elite brands would like the fair weather enveloping Sooner football these days to settle in for a long stay.

So with little to do heading into the so-called dog days of summer other than anxiously tick off the days until the opening kickoff to the new college season. I’ve compiled a short list of why things could not be better right now in and around the defending and nine-time Big 12 football champions.
