Tuesday’s game against TCU was a yawner in terms of the high drama delivered by multiple Sooner basketball games this season.

Oklahoma built a 20-point first-half lead and were never really headed after that as the Sooners rolled to a 95-72 victory over a game but – this season, at least – genuinely overmatched TCU squad. Buddy Hield became more like one of the guys in this one, contributing 17 points along with five other Sooners who reached double figures.

The Sooner superstar had just two buckets after halftime and none of the three-point variety. A rare off-night for the front-runner to earn National Player of the Year honors this season. But it didn’t really matter because the other Oklahoma starters more than picked up the slack.

Jordan Woodard added 14 points, Isaiah Cousins, 13, Ryan Spangler 11 and even Khadeem Lattin got into the act with 10 points of his own to go along with three blocked shots.

  • The OU bench saw quite a bit of action in this game relative to their playing minutes in past games. Freshman Christian James led the Sooner reserves with 12 points, all coming on four three-pointers. The OU bench outscored the TCU reserves 30-25. which is a very good sign going forward.
