It was a great weekend if you’re an Oklahoma school. The Sooners and Cowboys rolled to victory, but the state of Texas isn’t as happy. The Bears and Horned Frogs picked up wins, but the Longhorns and Red Raiders are not feeling so great after some tough-to-swallow defeats to a few Power 5 teams.
Also worth mentioning, IOWA STATE WON A GAME.
With all that being said, here are your week four power rankings:
1. Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) • Prev. Rank: #1 (tied)
Oklahoma looked like the team with an SEC defense Saturday night. The Sooners held the Vols to 10 points, who’s offense kept gift-wrapping turnovers to the Sooners defense who don’t need any extra help making opposing offenses pay. OU sacked Justin Worley five times. It wouldn’t surprise me if Worley and A.J. McCarron held Eric Striker Victims Anonymous meetings in the near future.
2. Baylor Bears (3-0) • Prev. Rank: #1 (tied)
The Baylor Bears played Friday night and stomped Buffalo. Don’t get me wrong, this is another good Bears team. However, the competition has lacked in comparison to Oklahoma.
3. TCU Horned Frogs (2-0) • Prev. Rank: #4
Josh Docston’s incredible one-handed catch was enough to put them above K-State for a week. The Frogs scored 30 points before the Minnesota Gophers finally posted a touchdown in the fourth quarter. TCU isn’t looking so bad and they picked up a nice win over a Power Five Conference foe.
4. Kansas State Wildcats (2-0) • Prev. Rank: #3
Bye week for the Wildcats.
5. Oklahoma State Cowboys (2-1) • Prev. Rank: #5
I thought the Pokes might be in trouble against an experienced UTSA team, but Oklahoma State came out and took care of the Roadrunners who are a sexy upset pick right now.
6. West Virginia Mountaineers (2-1) • Prev. Rank: #6
The Mountaineers made all the mistakes and allowed Maryland to make a game of this one, but a last second field goal gave WVU an ugly win over the Terps. This is a weird West Virginia team that will get another challenge with OU coming to Morgantown this week.
7. Texas Longhorns (1-2) • Prev. Rank: #8
Texas had a chance to knock off UCLA, but a late Bruins touchdown spoiled the upset bid. Though, the drinking apparently started early in Arlington.
8. Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-1) • Prev. Rank: #7
Texas Tech’s defense gave up 438 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns to the Arkansas, which makes me wonder if a Red Raiders practice is just one long 7-on-7 competition.
9. Iowa State Cyclones (1-2) • Prev. Rank: #10
THE CYCLONES WON! THE CYCLONES WON! Iowa State knocked off rival Iowa to get their first win of the season. They needed a late rally, but Iowa State might not be so bad after all.
10. Kansas Jayhawks (1-1) • Prev. Rank: #9
Duke and Kansas would be a great March match-up, you know on the hardwood. In football? The Blue Devils put a 41-3 beat-down on the Jayhawks. Rock. Chalk.
