Oklahoma football: 2014 Preseason Time Capsule

facebooktwitterreddit

A week from Saturday, it will be football time in Oklahoma once again. However, as a fun way to see how dumb I am, let’s bury a time capsule for Oklahoma kicks off its 2014 season against Louisiana Tech.

We’ll be doing weekly time capsules for each game, because situations change and the college football landscape is never stagnant.

So it’s time for me to give some preseason predictions, because all the cool kids are doing it.

Schedule Predictions:

  • Oklahoma 45, Louisiana Tech 17: I’m not sure how potent OU’s offense will be in 2014, but if Knight lead Oklahoma to a 45-31 victory Alabama, he surely can get 45 up on the Bulldogs, right?
  • Oklahoma 38, Tulsa 10: 11 am game, anticipate a slow start that ends quickly. It makes sense if you don’t think about it.
  • Oklahoma 28, Tennessee 20: It’ll be a close, hard-fought game. I don’t want to say College Gameday will be at this game, because I’d like to reserve that for Baylor, but Tennessee still rebuilding much of its core will not be able to finish in Norman.
  • Oklahoma 35, West Virgina 24: WVU has some weapons offensively, but Sooners light up the scoreboard in Morgantown yet again.
  • Oklahoma 20, TCU 7: DEFENSIVE BATTLE!!!!
  • Oklahoma 14, Texas 13: Strong has these Longhorns in the right direction. No cakewalk (OR SHOULD I SAY FRIED CAKEWALK?!) in Dallas.
  • Oklahoma 31, Kansas State 21: KSU’S first trip to Norman since the Landry Debacle of 2012. SOONERS RUN THE KNIGHT.
  • Oklahoma 35, Iowa State 28: This one just spells trouble. CLOSE ONE IN AMES.
  • Oklahoma 42, Baylor 21: 2008 Tech all over again. Just watch.
  • Oklahoma 49, Texas Tech 42: This will be the funnest game of the season for no one.
  • Oklahoma 21, Kansas 7: Ben Heeney’s beard holds Oklahoma to three touchdowns.
  • Oklahoma 56, Oklahoma State 28: Garbage touchdowns salvage the day for the Pokes.
