"“I’m going to kick a touchdown.” The late Alex Karras used to get laughs with that joke mocking European NFL soccer-style kickers in the 1970s. No one can use that joke on Richardson, Texas, native Michael Hunnicutt. Hunnicutt, entering his fourth season as Oklahoma’s placekicker, might be remembered more for his one pass reception than any of the 62 field goals or 159 extra points he’s kicked. He caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from holder Grant Bothun on a fake field goal play that proved pivotal in a 33-24 upset of Oklahoma State in Stillwater. "Coming out of high school, Zack Sanchez had a choice. Sanchez starred on both sides of the ball in high school and could play either wide receiver or cornerback in college. Now a college sophomore, Sanchez ended up choosing to play cornerback at the University of Oklahoma and the decision is starting to pay off. Defensive progress coming quicker to Sooners

"Oklahoma’s players rested on Sunday. The first full week of preseason practice is in the books and a day off was given following the Sooners first preseason scrimmage Saturday morning. The scrimmage — like all of the Sooners’ practices — was closed to the public. Coach Bob Stoops believes the opening week of preseason practice hasn’t been as mentally taxing to the defense as the last preseason.
