Knight dealt with health issues in 2013, but having a returning starting quarterback is better than not having one.
And while I think Knight is the best man for the job right now, OU fans saw how well prepared every quarterback was when called in to action.
Knight’s got the speed to be a true playmaker for the offense, and if the glimpses we saw of his arm strength prove true all of 2014, there’s no reason Knight should not move up on this list.
However, for the time being, returning starting quarterbacks do not guarantee any sort of victory. You never know if the next Johnny Manziel or Jameis Winston is running the practice squad offense and is ready to make their big mark in college football immediately.
But Knight appears to be “the man.” He is a valuable asset to this team, not only with his skill at QB, but his undeniable great character and leadership.
Hopefully, Trevor Knight can stay healthy and maintain his status as the starter throughout the season. Oklahoma could definitely use the consistency at quarterback to avoid a huge letdown like they did against the Texas Longhorns a season ago.
