February and March are big recruiting months for football, but basketball is alive and well in Norman.
The Sooners picked up a commitment from Bola Alade, a shooting guard from Plano, Texas’ John Paul II High School.
Alade will not be on scholarship, rather he will be a preferred walk-on, according to his Twitter. Rivals does not have a rating for him, but he could be a solid addition to the team.
Listed at 6’3″, 170 pounds, Bola Alade has good size for a college shooting guard. With more time in the gym, he could really fit the mold of a Buddy Hield.
The Sooners will lose seniors Tyler Neal and Cameron Clark, but Oklahoma already has three big men on board for next season with 6’7″ Dante Buford, 6’9″ Khadeem Lattin, and 6’10” Jamuni McNeace.
Alade gives OU added depth at guard, and if he can cut to the basket and score like he did in high school, he could see some minutes in Norman.
